141110 Police PTSD Forum event invitation
Too often injured police in this State are treated as disposable items, to be removed from the police force with minimal cost and minimal fuss. This dismissive culture is most obvious when it comes to dealing with psychological injury.

The devastating impact this treatment has on injured police and their families, is a matter I have repeatedly raised in in Parliament.

The poor treatment of injured police whether through the aggressive dealings of insurers such as Metlife, or the cold wall of indifference from much of the police hierarchy, only aggravates many psychological injuries.

This can no longer be swept under the carpet. For this reason, on 2 December I will be hosting a parliamentary forum to highlight the need for comprehensive reform in how injured police are treated. Much of the focus will be on PTSD and its impact on police and family members.

WHEN: Tuesday 2 December 2014, 2.30pm-4.30pm.
WHERE: Theatrette, NSW Parliament, Macquarie Street, Sydney.
WHO: Injured police, medical and legal experts.
